Home Free: Country’s Vocal Group

We had the pleasure of being introduced to this talented country vocal group, Home Free, when they made their most recent Opry appearance in late June of this year. They honestly blew us away with their talent.

Home Free Blog Post

For those who don’t know, this is a group made up of five guys from Minnesota; members include Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance. They are also the Season Four Winners of the TV Show, The Sing off. They are known for their amazing covers of legendary cover songs that includes such hits as “Elvira” originally sung by the Oak Ridge Boys, and “Ring of Fire” originally sung by Johnny Cash.

Below are some of their most watched covers on Youtube and we also found their awesome collaboration they did with the Oak Ridge Boys.

Home Free: Ring of Fire featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix (Johnny Cash Cover)

Home Free: Wagon Wheel (Song of The South) from Old Crowe Medicine Show and Alabama

Old Dominion Just Dropped A New Music Video And It’s Amazing!

We are completely in love with Old Dominion’s new music video for “Be With Me”. It is a song that features girls of every age and every size, which we think makes this video so incredible! The interview segment is such an amazing opener to this music video. You also really get to know some of the girls in the video by letting them add their own voice to the beginning of it. Our favorite is the phrase that starts it all, “the best part about being a girl is…”, and getting to hear an unscripted version from the girls who rocked it!

Below you will hear from two of the girls in the music video, and their experiences and what they took away from the video shoot. Just a heads up, you guys are going to love this!

On The Verge Nashville: Did you know you were going to be in this video, or was it a “set-up” where they led you to believe you were doing something else? Continue reading Old Dominion Just Dropped A New Music Video And It’s Amazing!

Chris Janson: Fix A Drink EP Review

We have to start this post by saying, if you have never seen Chris Janson in concert, YOU NEED TOO! He is an insane entertainer and will blow you away. You will thank us later!

We are going to review Chris Janson's "Fix A Drink Ep" in anticipation of his sophomore album, Everyone, which will be released on September 22nd. This is a very upbeat EP and we hope to get to experience more of this energy in his upcoming sophomore album. Below are his 5 tracks off of his EP and a little bit of what to expect when listening to them.

Track One: "Fix A Drink"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_Op0bQfMoo

"Fix A Drink" is the perfect drinking song. It has also been called the song of the summer, and is Chris' current single. It is a extremely catchy and upbeat song that just puts you in a good mood whenever you hear it. This song was an excellent decision to be his current single. After having singles, like "Buy Me A Boat" and "Holdin' Her", I am excited to see what the next single on his upcoming album will be.

Track Two: "Name On It"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fwxy8mcdoQ

We would describe this song as an upbeat "love song". He describes what his perfect date night would be and for him, "it's a perfect night, and it's go your name on it".

Track Three: "Everybody"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v3SQ7pa4iQ

"Everybody" is the name of his upcoming sophomore album, Everybody. It is another catchy, upbeat song. A good explanation of this song is how everybody wants to have what they don't have, but they don't want to put in the work to get to that point. We think that this will be his next and first single off his new album, and we couldn't be more excited if this really DID happen. We guess we will see on September 22.

Track Four: "Little Bit Of Both"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1cw7dPDOcM

This is our personal favorite song off this EP. Again, another very upbeat catchy song. In this song, he talks about how his "perfect girl" is little mix of everything. He also does the perfect comparisons of the good and bad in the things he mentions in the song. Did we mention that their is a killer harmonica solo in it as well?!

Our favorite line: "Girl, your like Cinderella in a blender, with a little bit of Wicked Witch kicking in the mix"

Track Five: "Redneck Life"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV_n8zICgA0

The final song off of his Fix A Drink EP is "Redneck Life". He explains how he didn't choose the redneck life, it is just part of who he is. This is a good song that shows who he really is as a person and we love it!

If you want to hear more from Chris Janson, you can find his music on Spotify, Youtube, or iTunes. You can also look at his upcoming tour dates on ChrisJanson.com.

Brett Eldredge Album Review: Brett Eldredge (Self-Titled)

Brett Eldredge released his third studio album, Brett Eldredge, on Friday, August 4th, and his fans were definitely not disappointed. You can tell just by listening to the first few songs that this is Brett’s best album to date. This album is so well thought out and has so many amazing messages in the lyrics of each song. It is also already #1 on the iTunes album chart in multiple countries.

Since this is our first album review, we want to explain how we are going to do our reviews. We are going to give a brief summary of each song. We will then give our honest review of the album as a whole at the end.

Track One: “Love Someone”

The opening song on his self-titled album. It is a feel good, upbeat song that makes you want to get up and dance. The chorus pulls you in and makes you want to sing it at the top of your lungs. We think that it was a perfect song to start off the album.

Track Two: “Superhero”

Brett Eldredge is ready to come in to save the day with this song. It sort of has a rock n’ roll feel to it, and we are loving it! Everybody needs their own superhero, right? Luckily, we have Brett!

Track Three: “The Long Way”

This is one of the more slower songs on the album, but still a song that you will be belting out in the car every time it comes on. The best way to describe it is a “I want to get to know you” song. In this one in-particular though, you can definitely feel the emotion that Brett is trying to express and it is honestly giving us all the feels.

Track Four: “The Reason”

A song with a slower tempo, but still makes you want to sway along with the beat of the music. We feel that this song perfectly explains to someone why you can’t get them off your mind. It’s a feeling that we think everyone goes through at one time or another and it is so accurate and relatable, which makes this such an awesome song.

Track Five: “Something I’m Good At”

The current single off of this album. It’s a very upbeat and catchy song that makes you want to get up and dance on a table too. Also, a song that you can blast in your car and just enjoy life. I mean we all eventually find something we are good at, right?

Track Six: “Haven’t Met You”

Again, another very relatable song. It’s a song that makes you think and floods your mind with emotions. “Haven’t Met You” talks about that mind process you go through when you feel like you know someone that you have never met in your life. I think it could also be interpreted as a “love at first sight” song.

Track Seven: “No Stopping You”

“No Stopping You” perfectly explains how when you love someone so much, but know that you are holding them back, so you know you have to let them go. They are/will always be on your mind, but you know that they have places that they need to go and will support them no matter where they end up going in life. It’s a steady, upbeat song that has a beautifully written message in it.

Track Eight: “Brother”

We could listen to this song on repeat for days. We get a look into Brett’s relationship with his brother, Brice, and the memories they have together. This is song is so relatable to anybody who has a sibling, because you will have problems and set backs in your relationship with one another, but in the end, you will always be family.

Track Nine: “Heartbreaker”

“Heartbreaker” is an extremely catchy song. We feel that this song is the lyrical definition of the actual word, heartbreaker. Heartbreaker: “a person who is attractive but who is irresponsible in emotional relationships”.

Track Ten: “Crystal Clear”

This is the “island” song of the album. It is a very feel good song, with an good beat throughout it. It makes you just want to take a break from reality for a bit. Our favorite part of the song was the “talking” section at the end, lyrics below:

“See, it’s not about where you are..  it’s about where you go in your mind… so if we just pull together… if we just love each other,… then life is beautiful… come on and take a trip with me, we’re leaving right now.”

Track Eleven: “Cycles”

“Cycles” is about the never-ending cycle of falling in and out of love with someone. It is just a continuous cycle that many people experience, and we are glad that this song made it to the album.

Track Twelve: “Castaway”

“Castaway” is as Brett said in a number of interviews on of his most personal songs on the album. It’s explains how he always feels like he is running away from love, but he knows that he will always be lost without it. We love how this song has an acoustic feel to it, which gives it a very intimate feel for the audience listening to it.

Overall Review of the Album

For our overall review of the album, it is honestly the best album we have heard in a while. You can definitely tell that it is a very personal album for him and can really tell how hard Brett Eldredge worked on this album. You can feel so much raw emotion in his voice in every song on this album and that’s not something you get from a mastered album normally. So, Bravo, Brett, you have just received some fans for life with this album! He is such an amazingly talented artist, and it really showed with this album. I can not wait to see where his career goes in the future, but I know it will be up.

Brett, keep making brutally honest albums like this one, and your career will have no boundaries. It was a very good decision to make this album a self-titled one!

Best Country/Pop Crossover Collaborations

There have been so many Country/Pop collaborations that have occurred in recent years. Today, we are going to rank the Top 4 Recent Country-Pop Collaborations!

4. Brad Paisley and Demi Lovato: “Without A Fight”

The collaboration with Brad Paisley and Demi Lovato was a surprise to a lot of fans, but it ended up being an amazing idea. Brad and Demi’s voice’s compliment each other so well. This song also has all the key elements of a Brad Paisley song, like the classic guitar solos, but doesn’t shy away from letting Demi Lovato’s epic vocal range shine as well.

3. Kenny Chesney and P!nk: “Setting The World On Fire”

As soon as we found out that Kenny Chesney and P!nk were going to collaborate together, we knew it was going to be a hit. It goes between Kenny’s musical style and P!nk’s musical style so seamlessly. It has Kenny’s beachy, country sound while still having P!nk’s edgy sound in there as well. It’s definitely not a duo you would think would work well together, but it sounds AMAZING!

2. Dierks Bentley and Elle King: “Different For Girls”

This song is so perfect for so many reasons! This is another duet that you would never expect to sound good together. With Elle King’s Rock n’ Roll style, it’s hard to try to think how she would sound in a country music setting, but boy, it sounds incredible. It is also a very well written song with a great message behind it. Dierks Bentley and Elle King knocked this collaboration out of the park.

1. Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake: “Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away”

We can’t say enough good things about this collaboration between Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake in their 2015 CMA Awards performance of “Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away”. These are two incredible performers in general, and doing a collaboration together are what dreams are made of. Another amazing example of two voices that compliment each other perfectly! We wouldn’t mind another Chris Stapleton/Justin Timberlake collaboration in the future. We will just sit here patiently waiting.
