On The Verge Nashville: Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? Why did you want to pursue a career as an artist?
Tim: I’m originally from a small town in the UK called Crewe, but moved to Manchester when I was 21. I never really had a choice when I was younger, I grew up in a very musical family. Both of my parents were musicians, so being surrounded by music growing up was always going to steer me into a musical career.
OTVN: Describe your musical style.
Tim: I take most of my inspiration from soul and blues music. Growing up I listened to a lot of Stevie Wonder, Etta James, and all the old school rock n’ roll music.
OTVN: What was your inspiration for your single,”Lipstick”?
The song “Lipstick” was written about my current girlfriend, but at the time I wrote we weren’t together. Which is basically what the song is about, ‘ come on, we both fancy each other, let’s stop fooling around and get it on’!
OTVN: What can we expect to hear from your next single? (RELEASED TODAY! Link Here: “Figure It Out”)
Tim: The concept of the next single, “Figure It Out” couldn’t be further away from “Lipstick”. It’s a very personal song, I think and hope, it will be something a lot of people can relate to. It’s a piece of work I’m really proud of and excited to share!
OTVN: Who are your musical influences and why?
Tim: My musical influences are incredibly diverse. As I said, growing up I was heavy on soul and blues (still very much am), but as I got older I began to listen to pop music, trying to work out where I could possibly fit in within the industry! I’m a huge fan of Justin Timberlake, MJ, John Mayer, and Bruno Mars.
OTVN: What has been your favorite part of the music creating process?
Tim: The end is my favorite part! There is so much energy invested into creating a song, so much trial and error. It’s such a great feeling when it all comes together, you’re happy with the finished product and you can release the song to your audience.
OTVN: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Tim: I don’t look that far ahead, in 5 years I’ll be approaching 30, what a terrible thought! I’m looking in the short term, always wanting to do better, writing stronger material, performing at bigger venues, and bigger audiences.
OTVN: Other than the release of your next single, is there any other project that you would like us to keep our eyes and ears out for?
Tim: I have a very big project, which will be announced soon. I can’t give too much away at the moment, but it’s the most exciting project I’ve been involved in to date!
